A typical magazine is sold for around £1.50 and is usually published every week. I will charge around £1.20 for my magazine and think it is a reasonable price to charge and they can afford it with my target audience been in full time employment. It will be published once a month because I think that there will be more to input in the magazine and more people might buy it.

Target Audience
The demographics for my magazine will fall into the age groups of 35-55 because Ska music was big in the 1980’s but, it will also fall into the age group of 15-24 because more young people are started to get into Ska with new bands and the old bands and also the clothing. They will also fall into groups of C and D because they are middle aged working class people. In the psychographics my target audience would fall into the group that are inner-directed in the value life styles. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs my target audience would fall into the category of social because they are part of a group in the way that they dress but, also esteem because they have self-esteem, status, respect and also admiration of others.

LLIAR Analysis On The Brief
L- What does each of my products need to contain?
• My front cover will need to contain a masthead, a main image that will be a medium close-up; also the subjects face will be facing the audience and making eye contact with them. I will also be using clear house-style of two or three colours, with thumbnail images that will illustrate articles in the magazine. Also with a price and barcode, teasing contents and main articles/ feature advertised relating to the main image.
• My contents page will have a masthead that will be the similar style and colouring as the masterhead on the front page, it will have thumbnail images of articles in the magazine with the page number next to them to grab your attention and make you want to go to that page. It will also have clear house-style of two to three colours like the front page but, it will be set out differently because it will have a list of headings and pages that you can go to.
• My double page spread will be one main article over the two pages and will have images of a band or artist but, with one main image. Also it will have other small images of music related to it. There will be a lot of information included on this page like and interview, reviews of the band/artist and an article about them. Because it is the main article in the magazine it will also be included on the front page maybe as the main image or the colourings will be similar or the same as the colouring of the article.
I- Look into existing publishers whose other publications have something in common with my magazine.
• My music magazine will be published by a company and will be targeted at a certain genre of music and certain people in society.
• I will look at magazines of the same genre to get ideas on what I will include in my magazine.
I- What messages will my music magazine convey about my chosen genre?
• I will make my music magazine suitable for my target audience and represent the ideology throughout it. I will also make each page and product suitable for the target market.
A- Who will my target audience be?
• When I am thinking about who my target audience will be I will consider the age, gender, who will buy the magazine and where the music magazine will be sold and for what price.
R- How do I intend my genre of music and the target audience to be represented?
• I will consider the way in which I am going to represent my target audience and the genre of the magazine.
• It will be represented in a positive way and because of this it would represent the target audience in a positive way because it is there genre of music and wouldn’t want to be represented in a negative way. I will make it positive through the photos I use for the front cover and also the articles/interviews and the advertisements in the magazine.
Music Magazine Brief
My main task is to create a music magazine and will decide who my target audience will be. It will have a front cover, a contents page and then a double page spread. My magazine will have a masterhead, a main image, barcode and a price. Also will include bands that relate to the genre of music my magazine will be based around.

Evaluation Of College Magazine
My college magazine is for Wyke Sixth Form College and includes everything I need for my college magazine to attract and persuade my audience, which is college students, to read the magazine. After talking to my target audience and thought about the feedback I was given and what I think about my magazine, I think that using the Wyke logo for my masterhead was a good idea because, it shows the students going to pick it up and read the magazine that they automatically know it is targeted at students from Wyke. Also if I didn’t use this as my masterhead the top of my magazine would be quite plain, boring and they wouldn’t know who the magazine was for or about. My Brand image promotes the college in a good way because she is a happy student, holding her work and by looking at it makes the people think that all the students would be happy to be in college like this. The person I used as my model is looking directly at the camera so it’s almost like it contexts with the audience and its eye level. Also it is a medium close up of her where she covers half the front cover and shows the readers it’s about the students and made by students. The background of my front cover is a picture of one of the buildings from college. Apart from my main image I haven’t included any other images but, had writing over the top of it which is information that will be in the magazine. I added another thumbnail image but, it was a picture of a student card advertising them to students. In my contents page I used the same colours and images so you could see that it is part of the same magazine and so they match.
On the front cover of my magazine I don’t have a price I think that students of Wyke shouldn’t have to pay for a magazine that is produced and made in college by other students so in the top right hand corner it would have a price if I charged people but, because it is free it just says FREE in the corner. To grab the students, audience, attention I put parts of what will be in my magazine on the front page to grab their attention and make them want to read more. To make my front cover I used Photoshop and got use to using this to improve my front cover from the drafts I did to my final front cover.
I chose this magazine to produce because I am a student at Wyke and I can relate to other students at the college and know what they like and would want to see in a magazine. It is also easier for me as I had easy access to cameras and able to take photos of the college to use for my magazine. Also I knew what sort of events happen around and in the college such as, college parties to trips and matches in sport to include on the front cover. So I knew what sort of thing would grab the attention of my audience.
I think my magazine is interesting because it advertises your NUS student cards to attract the students attention but, also includes college parties from the past and what parties there will be in the future for the students to look forward to. It also includes last year’s students talking about their results and how they prepared to help the students reading it. I think I included fun, social sides to college but, how not to make exams scary and nervous.
I researched a lot into what type of people my target audience would be. I included different age groups, like year 11’s and college students, the types of subjects my magazine would attract and also different religion because the college has people from different ethnic backgrounds. I couldn’t be biased towards students of the college so used the college colours and targeted to magazine and both male and female students ages 16-19. I used language that would grab people attention of both sexes. After considering all different target audiences I came to a decision that it would be students at the college and would be free because they wouldn’t be able to afford much with them been students at college and not in full time employment.
My college magazine had to represent Wyke Sixth Form College in a positive way to others that would be reading it. It shows the students in a positive way that they can all go out and have social events with others from the college but, also be prepared for exams and achieve the best. I still had to consider all the different social groups in college and include all of them to target them as well. I tried to include all of them and not put them in a negative way and didn’t want them to be stereotyped in anyway because I believe Wyke Sixth Form College is a great college and the students of Wyke help to make it a great college. I think I could of included a bit more about sport in my magazine because I don’t think it targets that social group, that is one thing I would change in the magazine if I was targeting everyone. Overall I think I represented the college in a good way through my text and images on both my contents and my front cover and it gets the target audience, the students, involved and shows them they’re a part of it and show others what Wyke Sixth Form College is about.
Second Draft Of Front Cover
This is my Second Draft it is similar to my final front cover but, i changed and moved things about. This will be quite similar to my final draft but, needs improving because the writing is too dark and you can't read the information properly.
